Hillary Kantorovich: THE ‘SCULPTOR’ OF MY ROME
"As the saying goes, “Rome wasn’t built in a day”. Here is an excerpt from my journey with Hillary through the past two years…
I still remember the day I decided to sit down with Hillary and ask her about training. I had only recently lost one of my closest friend/mentor a couple days prior and remember sitting in the funeral service overwhelmed with all these emotions. I was lost and I knew that was when I hit rock-bottom – a feeling in hindsight I am glad I experienced but hope most people never reach that point. I have been training in the gym for a few years now with different programs and episodically with a PT. I was 24 years old, weighed 125-130lbs and I was at a stage of my life where my self confidence and self-esteem was at an all-time low. My most vivid memory was the following statement I told myself: “No matter what comes around, I am going to achieve the physique/body I envision before I go on to make a difference in this world and pursue medical school.” I had a lot of motivation but little guidance.
This is where I made one of the most important decisions of my life-to-date. I decided to take my wholehearted mind, body, and determination to Hillary. Ever since then, we never looked back, and our fairy tale trainer/client combo continues…
Stating that Hillary has been THE most important person through this stage of my life is an understatement. I feel blessed and proud to have her as one of the few people who understand my passion and value for fitness. She has been my pillar of strength through the highs and lows these two years. Through the turbulent times of my friend passing away to the trenches that was my Master’s, I knew every time I stepped into the Balanced Living studio, I was going to accomplish a feat. The feeling of accomplishing a new feat (whether it is that one extra rep or that 1lb increase in weight) and leaving it all out there helped create that balance in my own life.
No matter what your goals are in life, I am confident you will find it beneficial to work with Hillary –whether it is Training, Nutrition, or achieving a “balance” in life. Her program designing is towards YOUR blueprint (And trust me, I have experimented with tons of programming – both online as well as gyms and hers is top-notch!) and focuses on progressing you towards your goals. My before and after pictures are an inspiration to myself – a reminder to never stop believing and giving it everything! But, these images are also a testament to the amount of time and effort Hillary spent in designing my programs, pushing me, and sticking with me.
I would like to send a wholehearted 'Thank You' to Hillary for making me to believe in myself , but also in instilling the confidence in me to pursue my goals no matter how big they are. You taught me a whole new meaning to “Don’t tell me that sky is the limit when there are footprints on the moon”. "I started seeing Hillary in September 2011 with the goal of gaining muscle mass and creating curves. With Hillary’s guidance, I’ve been able to increase my overall muscle mass and I feel much healthier and physically fit than before; I still have some room to grow, but she’s helped me make excellent progress.
