Hillary Kantorovich - Osteopathic Manual Practitioner, Fitness Trainer, and Lifestyle Consultant
Who am I? I am a passionate and persistent truth seeker, more specifically in the area of mind, body and spirit wellness. My interest in health and fitness began around the age of 12 when I chose to take my ballet training to the next level, from recreational to intensive at the Oakville Ballet Company. Nutrition and physical conditioning had to be integrated to ensure optimal balletic performance. All I can say is that I wish I knew then what I know now! I believed that I was doing all of the right things for my health, but in actuality it was just the opposite.
To support my ballet training I followed all of the well known traditional information from Health Canada: Low fat dairy, lean meats and eventually vegetarianism, vegetable oils instead of saturated animal fats, lots of high fiber grain products, lots of raw fruits and vegetables, soy protein, beans and legumes, daily multi-vitamin and calcium supplement, cardiovascular exercise for 1 hour 5-6 times per week. Bound and determined in the name of good health I followed these principles to a tee, despite the many symptoms that my body used to signal that my health and vitality was moving in the wrong direction: extreme digestive problems and irritable bowel symptoms, hormonal disturbances, intense anxiety, depression, insomnia, weight management issues, joint pain and inflammation. I sought out the advice of many professionals over the span of several years (Medical Doctors, Nutritionists, Dietitians, Therapists, Naturpaths etc.), however I saw little to no improvement.
It wasn't until I moved to Kitchener Waterloo to pursue Mathematics at the University of Waterloo that my health and vitality started moving in the right direction. Through the inspiration and guidance of my roommate at the time - personal trainer and holistic wellness coach, I was empowered with the required information to improve and achieve optimal health and wellness. My passion for the holistic approach to health and fitness lead me to change my course of study to "Corrective High-Performance Exercise Kinesiology" and "Holistic Lifestyle Coaching" at the internationally renowned CHEK Institute.
In January 2011 I founded Balanced Living - Osteopathic Clinic, Personal Fitness & Lifestyle Consulting Studio - right here in Kitchener Waterloo!
